Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Vertical Farm Operator. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sustainable agriculture and be eager to learn and grow within our organization. This role involves hands-on work with various products, including herbs, microgreens, and mushrooms, and requires attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the growth of fresh herbs, microgreens, mushrooms, and other crops.
- Perform seeding, transplanting, and harvesting of herbs and microgreens.
- Care for seedlings in the plant nursery.
- Water plants using both automated and hand watering systems.
- Prepare growth media, inoculate, transplant, and harvest mushrooms.
- Package and deliver products to customers.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, tools, materials, and fruiting rooms used in production.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with the Food Safety Modernization Act.
- Work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
- Perform other related or assigned tasks.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform complex tasks.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Valid driver’s license and with a good driving record.
